Description anitque cigar standblack americanaslaveryup for auction antique cigar stand/holder with a figure of a house slave holding the cigars. There are slots for 6 cigars, a holder for used stick matches, and one for unused stick matches.
On his back, there is a place to hang the cigar cutter. There are 6 indentations in the metal just under the round holders to accommodate the cigar tips.
The figure is dressed in a too msall suit and is barefoot. The figure is attached to the base through the use of bolts and nuts although the nut that holds his left ofot down is missing (as you can see from the photos). He measures approximately 4 high and the stand measrues approximately 5 1/4 x 4.
This used to be plated but it has long since worn off. There are stamped marks on the bottom of the piece that i was unable to identify. There is a shield with the initials jgs, 4 other marks, and teh numbers 2680. (see photos ofr more detail. )this piece is quite odl and has some wear but that is to be expected for a piece that was used a lot. The base is bent a little just in front of his left foot but could probably be bent back easily enough. As stated previously, the plating has long since worn off. It is still a great piece of black americana and one that you don't see very often. A unique treasure to add to your collection of black americana or tobacciana. I am always happy to combine shipping (where possible) to save you $$$. If it is not posisble to safely combine shipping, a shipping discount will be applied to any additional purchase!
